Makerspace Afterschool Club

Ignite your creativity and bring your ideas to life at the Makerspace Afterschool Club! This unique program empowers students to embark on long-term projects of their choice, guided by the expert staff at Banyule Nillumbik Tech School.

After honing their skills in our Creator Club, students are ready to take on exciting challenges, working independently to develop and complete projects that ignite their passions.

From designing innovative solutions to building something truly unique, Makerspace is where imagination meets possibility. And the excitement doesn’t stop there—at the end of the year, students will have the chance to showcase their incredible work at our highly anticipated Student Showcase. It's an opportunity to celebrate creativity, ingenuity, and all the hard work that has gone into these amazing projects.

Design Brief for Makerspace:

To get into Makerspace your student must provide a Design Brief of what they will be working on during the term. It can be a robot or digital art. Here is a provided template to use. If your kid is currently in Creator Club or Makerspace, we have been helping them with their Design brief already and will send through what they have so far next week. The intent of the Design brief is to give them a goal that they work towards and allow us to help them achieve it. Program Dates:

Start Date: Tuesday, 15th October 2024 (Week 2 of Term 4)
End Date: Tuesday, 10th December 2024 (Week 10 of Term 4)

Timings:

Start Time: 3:45 PM
End Time: 5:30 PM
Drop-Off: Students should be dropped off at the school by 3:45 PM.
Pick-Up: The program will conclude at 5:30 PM, and we will begin packing up at that time. Students must be picked up no later than 5:45 PM.

Enrollment Details:

Enrollment Opens: Week 9 of Term 3
The Makerspace Afterschool Club has a maximum capacity of 26 students.
To enroll your child, please fill out the booking form once enrollment opens in Week 9 of Term 3. We will confirm receipt of your enrollment via email.
Important: To ensure your child's place in the program, you must complete the payment and submit the signed consent form by the cut-off date: Tuesday, 8th October 2024.

We encourage early enrollment, as spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Security and Pickup:
Public access to the site continues to be restricted for child safety as with regular schools, as such you will be required to wait for your students outside the tech school. We understand that this may be an adjustment, but it is a necessary step to enhance the safety of all our students.

Should you need to contact the school while waiting, we have installed a buzzer intercom at the entrance. However, please be aware that due to our limited staff during afterschool hours, the intercom may not always be answered promptly. In such cases, you can reach us on the following numbers:

Additionally, all visitors are now required to sign in and wear lanyards to distinguish those with Working with Children Checks. This increased visibility will help us identify who is on-site and further protect our students.
